Kelly. Just a short note to thank you for the fantastic time last week at Royal Rut Ranch. It was the trip of a lifetime and as I told you at check-out, your team is absolutely fantastic. I have led lots of teams over the years and your group of guides and support guys were a blast to be around. They worked hard as a team, supported one another, joked with one another, and looked out for one another at every turn. I know that it is not luck that makes a team behave like that; it is leadership. It is obvious that they work in an environment where they feel appreciated and understand that they all win together. You are to be congratulated. Oh, yes, the elk are pretty impressive too!! Thank you.

Kelly, just wanted to let you know that I had a great hunt and really enjoyed the whole Royal Rut camp experience. I look forward to booking another trip in the future. AJ did a great job guiding, entertaining, and educating me on the 4-wheeler. I would also like to give a thumbs-up to the butcher. He did an excellent job with my elk. In the past, I have always processed my own game and have been a little leery about a commercial operation. But his place was very clean, and the meat and sausage was excellent by any standard. Thanks again, and good luck in all of your upcoming adventures. Say “hi” to everybody at the camp.

I want to thank you for the hunt of a lifetime. Everything was perfect on the trip. I have been hunting for 60 years and this was the best hunt ever. You run a quality operation. The bonding experience with xxx’s son was an unexpected bonus. XXX never had a grandfather and the time we had together left a big impression on the boy. He is going to start a savings account so he can return in a few years. Tyson was an excellent guide and made our trip very pleasant. I was really worn out after returning home and am still waiting for my body to return to normal. The meat from the elk is very tasty and should last a long time as will the memories of the hunt.

Thank you for a great hunt and a wonderful experience. Your guide, Owen, was a patient and careful guide. He made sure that we went at our own pace and if we looked like we needed to slow down or stop for a rest, that’s what we did. His scouting and tracking skills were outstanding. He gave me the confidence to make “the shot of a lifetime.” He is a true asset to your Ranch. I hope to one day bring my son to your Ranch as he has just this past week completed his hunter safety course here in PA. He will, of course, have to work his way up to game this large. I thought you might like to know that I got Riley’s elk from the taxidermist in February. Riley chose a mount similar to what you have in the lodge. The taxidermist told me that it was one of the prettiest animals he had mounted. He asked me to consider allowing him to use it in a show next winter.

I have the elk in Riley’s trophy room⁄office in our bonus room over the garage. The elk faces my desk so I have a daily reminder of our trip to your ranch. I also had a bracelet made with the elk’s teeth. It took me a long time to find a design I liked. The local family– owned jewelry store that Riley and I shopped at made it for me…they had never made anything with elk’s teeth. Not only do I have all the special memories from that trip, I also have a beautiful piece of jewelry. It was one of the best things we ever did. Not only did he get the thrill of shooting an elk, we got to meet some of his family for the first time, and one of his Dad’s childhood friends from Park City.
Eight Texas elk hunters set off to Utah for the elk hunt they have always dreamed of. Anticipation and camaraderie are at an all-time high. Arriving in Price, Utah on September 24, 2009 all the hunters plan for their rendezvous with Kelly Hymas and all of the guides. The next morning, the hunters make their trek out to the Royal Rut Ranch to meet their guides, sight in their guns and bows, and get ready for the first afternoon hunt. Kelly forewarns us to not shoot the first elk we see.

We all agree that we are just looking this first afternoon. Everyone leaves on the four–wheelers for the first afternoon hunt to see the beautiful country and some splendid bull elk. Even though we made the commitment to only look, at the end of the day we already have three bull elk down. Two of them are at the 400 B&C, and the third a non–typical that is beyond belief. WOW! What a way to start.
This is the type of hunt you will find at the Royal Rut Ranch; as the weekend went along, it only got better. Good food, good guides, good outfitter, and only the best of friends. Our dream hunt was even better than we could have imagined. We would like to thank Kelly and his guides for the trip of a lifetime. We hope to come back again soon.
On behalf of Ed and myself, I would like to thank you for one of the most enjoyable hunting experiences we had with you last week. The 354 B&C Bull Elk that I harvested was one of the biggest thrills in the 30 plus years that I have been hunting. Ed was also most thrilled with the perfect 6×6 bull that he harvested.
